Alan has over 30 years’ experience in the technology industry and has extensive experience in leading and managing technology organisations. Alan is currently Managing Director of IFS and Non-Executive Director of Fiscal Technologies and advises several Scale-up organisations. Prior to joining IFS Alan was Managing Director of Sage UK and Executive Vice president Northern Europe.

Before joining Sage Alan held a number of leadership and Executive roles in several leading technology companies. Alan spent 14 years with Oracle European General Counsel and then in a number of executive roles. Alan’s IT career started with Digital Equipment Corporation where he worked in the UK and Asia Pac based in Hong Kong.

He started his career as a lawyer having graduated in law from Edinburgh University. He practised as a Solicitor for a number of years specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. Alan also studied German Law and practised for a period in Dusseldorf.

Alan is passionate about sport in particular rugby and helps raise money for grass roots rugby in Scotland. Alan is married to Jennifer and has one son Matthew. He lives in London and in Dublin Ireland.
