Benchmark, a pioneer in sport, with the UK’s Sports Industry Awards now in its 21st year, building corporate networks and communities that harness the power of sport, health & wellness and social impact, has appointed ScaleUp Group as advisers to obtain growth capital to accelerate Benchmark’s unique leadership position in its field.
Benchmark whose success to date has been entirely self-funded and profitable, first held in 2007 in partnership with Bloomberg the Square Mile Relay, which is now due to be hosted in 13 cities globally. In response to the pandemic, this is being complemented with a virtual offering and cutting-edge sustainability event PWRRide being rolled out globally in 2022.
Cultural work changes in the pandemic have amplified the corporate world’s need for engagement tools to drive togetherness, employee wellness and client connections. Benchmark is now extending its reach to solve these growing challenges using its Square Mile Software technology.
Benchmark’s organic expansion has also included thinkBeyond consultancy, a world-leading social impact and sustainability advisory, working with some of the world’s biggest rights holders, sports teams and brands including The North Face, NFL, Liverpool FC, ESPN, Unilever, World Athletics and SAP
Nick Keller, Founder and CEO of Benchmark Group said “Since Benchmark was first launched, we have built our business around identifying the sectors, markets and activities where communities and networks can be created, and stakeholders and investors can profit commercially & socially. John and the ScaleUp group have offered real insight and collaboration in our early discussions and show a genuine understanding of what we need to take advantage of our early market positions – we are excited for the journey to come”
John O’Connell Founder and Executive Chairman of ScaleUp Group commented “The impressive progress and entrepreneurial flair of Nick Keller and his team is an excellent platform from which to launch their next, technology-led, growth phase. We are delighted to be asked to support the Benchmark Group to whom we will be introducing Funds over the next few months.”
